CAPTURING VISUAL POETRY GENERATIONS OF HANDS WILL HOLD

An artist at heart, fuelled by good coffee, sunshine, and walks on the beach.

A small town girl from a land-locked province who found her way to the ocean, raising her boys in a creaky old house filled with love and photographs. That’s my story.

Give me the honour of capturing yours.

I document the lived-in moments. The little giggles, the big bumps, and the soulful love that started it all.

I work with expecting couples, the newest of babes, and families (young and old) who are finding their way in this big, beautiful world.

capturing the wistful nostalgia of summer days spent by the ocean, little footprints through the kitchen after a Sunday spent in the garden, and lipstick kisses left on chubby cheeks

KIND WORDS from mothers, lovers, and dreamers, alike.

Makenna is absolutely amazing to work with, and such a talented photographer. During the pre-shoot planning process, she made herself available to answer my questions: different shots we wanted, outfits I was considering, location, even the date and time of day. When we arrived at the shoot location, she was bubbly and friendly - but very professional, everything you would in someone taking your maternity pictures! Overall, we had such a great time, despite my husband and I being a little camera shy. Makenna captured the most beautiful photos of the most special time in our lives, and we are so grateful to her for that. You will be so glad you hired her!

Anyone can take a photo, but Makenna captures moments. The love, the laughter, the feeling. When I received my photos, it wasn’t just a photo but a moment truly captured in all it’s essence. It’s no surprise just how incredible the session feels, that the results far exceed any expectations. Makenna truly puts her heart into all aspects of her work and it shows. I am so grateful for the moments captured in time that I’ll have forever, all thanks to Makenna.

Makenna was so lovely to work with! She was so accommodating around mine and my husband’s shift work schedule, and was flexible when a last minute change came up. She picked a beautiful location, and made us both feel so comfortable. Our maternity photos are something I’ll cherish forever, and her style of editing is dreamy!

Makenna did an incredible job with our maternity photo shoot. I had to reschedule several times due to weather and Makenna was extremely accomodating every single time. She was so much fun to work with, and we have already recommended her to friends who had the same amazing experience with her. Highly recommend her for any occasion!

Makenna is truly gifted at what she does. Not only does she produce captured moments beyond your expectation, she makes you feel completely comfortable. I am not one to want my photo taken, but she made it feel natural. Makenna makes an experience, and the photos you receive are proof of that~

mentorships for new photographers

Is photography your dream job? Hey, me too. Mentorship is such a wonderful way to hone your skills with an experienced photographer guiding your progress. Learn from my lessons, and gain a photographer friend in the process.

styled shoots to grow your portfolio

One of the things I hear most from junior photographers is how hard it can be to build your “dream” portfolio without constantly shooting for free. I host themed styled shoots so you can craft the portfolio that you know will showcase exactly what you can do.

workshops & retreats

Teaching other creatives is a huge passion of mine - and I’ve built a community of engaged creatives who want to be the best version of themselves for their clients and their work. Focusing on topics like editing, posing, and prioritizing wellness - there’s lots to learn!
